ย Is playing at Download this June. For the uninitiated… Download Festival at Donnington Park, London is one of THE biggest rock fests in Europe.

Maiden were so impressed by them that they’ve been asked to open for them.

PArikrama has created a myspace account, and they request all fans (and non fans who are willing to<–I add this) to please go toย  myspace.com/parikramaindia and add themselves as friend.

Thank you the all ๐Ÿ˜€ Much obliged ๐Ÿ˜€

YAAAARH! The exams are the over. And we celebrated by…eating ๐Ÿ˜€ A yummy burger(my latest sin food), a horrible chocolate cookie and a…milkshake. I forgot, ofcourse, that I…HATE milk! Lolol. I paid 55 bucks for milk ๐Ÿ˜ฎ *Reminds self to NEVER do that again*

FREE! FREE!! I’m FREE!! Remember the kid in Home Alone I? When he runs around saying that? And just before he slaps on aftershave lotion? Well, imagine me like that. Without the after shave lotion.

I shall post up 2 poems(lolol) tomorrow or something. Written during exam time (but ofcourse ๐Ÿ™‚ ) and well, those minutes wasted have to show. Sorry, folks ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m tempted to think the value of verbosity goes up with time. Pico and Castiglione give us nice short essays to ‘learn’, Machiavelli goes one up on them, but Felicity A. Hughes takes the cake. The lady…repeats herself. Repeatedly. Sigh.

1. Pick out a scar you have, and explain how you got it

Scar, hm. I guess I pick the one on my arm; its become a part of me. An ‘identifier’ of sorts. How did it come about? Nasty nurse who scratched out an injection reaction from poor baby me. I have no memory of it (poor BABY me, as I say… ๐Ÿ™‚ ) but I kinda like it ๐Ÿ˜€

2. What is on the walls in your room?

Orange paint! A cloth covered black board which has some Maiden pics stuck on it. That and 2 hand-drawn Eddies. Hehe. Actually, the walls dont have much. The cupboards and doors have all my Maiden stuff and doodles.

3. What does your phone look like.

Its navy blue and white. When I bought it last year (after my old faithfull 1100 gave way… ๐Ÿ˜ฆ ) I thought I’d change the body…get something orange, but it grew on me. Oh, its another Nokia. I can only chance Nokias…I drop(er, maybe thats too gentle a word) my cell a couple of hundred times a week. I don’t know the model number, but its the base model. I’m partial to base models…atleast until a really cheap 5.1 MP camera phone with lots of features comes into the market ๐Ÿ˜€

While we’re on the topic of phones…I sleep with mine ๐Ÿ™‚ Its my alarm clock of choice. I’m not much of a phone person otherwise. I sms a lot (when I’m sure the bills okay), but its mostly STD.

4. What music do you listen to?

HAHA. ๐Ÿ™‚ MAIDEN! lol. Maiden, and some of the other NWOBHM products. Some classic rock. Classic Metal. Parikrama. Sometimes pure instrumentals. But Maiden’s my primary poison \m/ ๐Ÿ˜€

5. What is your current desktop picture?

One I clicked in college when I was bored and waiting for Grad day to begin. The potted plants in front of the common room. I love the green it looks in pics.

6. What do you want more than anything right now?

I want to not feel sleepy, I want the exams to be over, I want to know (for sure) what I’ll be doing after 3rd year, I want to know where I’ll be in 6 months, I want to see E again, I want my room to magically clean itself up, I want to buy some music, I want to read some books, I want to have a nonsensical conversation, I want to trip in my head, I want to make chocolate cake, I want to make a sundae and I will go on and on unless I stop now. So I stop, lol.

7. Do you believe in gay marriage?

I’m still in the process of believing in marriage.

8. What time were you born?

Hm…either night or afternoon. I keep forgetting…

9. Are your parents still together?

10. What are you listening to?

Voices in my head ๐Ÿ™‚

11. Do you get scared of the dark?
Fear…of..the dark. Muhahaha. Aah, 17th March, come again ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

And no, I don’t. Generally. The dark is peaceful.

12. The last person to make you cry?

Myself, I guess.

13. What is your favourite perfume/cologne?

I don’t have one. perfumes really irritate my nostrils these days.

14. What kind of hair/eye colour do you like on the opposite sex?
Hair- enough of it

Colour- natural.
On any sex, actually ๐Ÿ™‚

15. Do you like pain killers?

I abhor medication. But Painkiller…must give it a listen.

16. Are you too shy to ask someone out?

Probably not. Or maybe yes. I’ll know when it happens.

17. Fave pizza topping?

The right amount of cheese and veggies. For some reason, I(a hardcore carnivore in the worst of times) don’t like non-veg pizzas that much.

18. If you could eat anything right now, what would it be?

My words? No, hehe. My words will stay uneaten.

Nothing, really. I have the Exam Stomach at the moment. (Though I did eat a me-made sundae last night. I could do with another one, probably :p)

19. Who was the last person you made mad?
I don’t remember. Oh yeah, me.

20. Is anyone in love with you?

I further tag R-E-D, the blue lullaby ๐Ÿ™‚ , Haz, Pallavi and Nishant.

I’ve been tending towards the morbid recently. I blame exams. HOWEVER, now that the subsies are done…I shall be HAPPY *forces self to forget that the MAINS are what matter, lol*

I received a forward today about the dangers of internet interaction. How easy it is to stalk, and how easy it is to unintentionally give away information about yourself. The age of the internet is strange- and I don’t know if our generation will be able to graft it into our system, like another limb. We will always be aware that the ‘net is a virtual world, we will always be assailed by paradoxes- how much of ourselves is actually on the net. Is one to be a liar on the internet? Where does one draw the line?

Subsequent generations will not know these irritants, if you will. Little children of 5 will be net savvy. They already are, I believe. The older ones will be doing fantastically briiliant impossibilities on it. The virtual world will become so complex that the real and the virtual will become equal opposites.

The question of identity is an integral one; an individual will have grappled with with it at some point or the other in his/her life. The internet merely extends the boundaries, teases you to question if the boundaries are really there. We had an interesting paper last year in Philosophy…Nihilism on the Information Highway. I don’t remember it now, but I remember it raised pertinent questions, and it forced us to think about a lot of issues; the use of aliases on the internet, the anonymity, the easy access to information and what it translated into in our lives.

The email forward scared me. It tempts me to shut down my blog, get off orkut, facebook, the two forums I frequent, because I’m sure I’ve given some part of me away on the internet. It is impossible to not reveal a part of yourself when you interact-even in the virtual world; for at the end of the day, those are people you write to.

But then I think, that doesn’t make much sense. The blog is now a part of me. Orkut and facebook has allowed me to get in touch with old school friends who I never thought I’d locate again. There are four or five people who i don’t personally know that I enjoy interacting with over orkut, and most of them are from the maiden forums that I like to visit.

The internet is the medium that allowed me to contact Maiden’s management(that nothing came of it is another matter, hehe), the internet is what allowed me to go to the Maiden concert, and the internet is what allows me to find out what happens in distant Baghdad,ย  and the internet is what gives me a glimpse into peoplehood of ordinary people.

I feel safe. I may be living in a fool’s paradise, but I’m not convinced.

Iโ€™ve got to clear up my backyard

Before I turn to the โ€™scope

To see more-

The Future

There is enough lying around

Plenty of trash to be found

Pieces of the building block

That have fallen away

Look my eyes away from there

The inward glance is what I pray

Before I lose myself to

New found madness

A spinning top out of control

A ray of light focussed to kill

All signs of the previous life

That builds like leaves in the backyard

A hope to rise

Look to the right

Look to the left

Look to everywhere but there

The bubble it formed

The bubble it rose

The bubble bursting-

Never fun to-

And I donโ€™t want to-

So easy to see

When it isn’t in front of me.
